The most useful size guide starts with a room, not a breed chart. Spend five quiet minutes measuring the place your pet already chooses.
1. Watch before you move anything
Notice whether your pet curls, stretches, turns, or shares the area with bowls or furniture edges.
2. Mark the usable rectangle
Measure the width and depth of the clear surface. For a windowsill or crate, measure the inside surface rather than the outside frame.
3. Add movement room
A resting surface should allow the posture you observed without forcing paws or hips onto a hard edge.
4. Check doors, vents, and buckles
Make sure a mat will not obstruct a doorway, heater, crate latch, seat belt buckle, or moving furniture part.
5. Compare the actual numbers
Choose from the dimension line on the product page. Pet weight can be a useful secondary clue, but the measured surface is the deciding input.
